How To Care For Your Gloves
How to care for your gloves

Globaleather wheelchair gloves are made from the finest materials which, of course, includes the best quality leather. No matter how you use your gloves or what kind of chair you have, we want you to enjoy the benefits of our durable gloves for as long as possible. By following these easy and simple step by step customer care instructions, you will get the maximum use and enjoyment out of your gloves.

When you receive your gloves from us

Wash all gloves before first use. This is important because it prevents dye from running and will also soften the gloves slightly.

General storage

Store leather away from direct sunlight to prevent the colour fading. Leather is a natural material so you may find the surface shows some minor variations in colour or even the occasional small imperfection.

Leather Gloves- Hand washing

We recommend you wash your gloves regularly. Produce a good lather in lukewarm water using mild detergent. Immerse the gloves and wash gently on your hands. Remove the gloves and rinse thoroughly in clean water. Squeeze out all excess water and pull gently into shape. Hang to dry away from direct sunlight or heat. Coloured gloves may be washed with articles of a similar colour provided the above instructions are followed.

Leather Gloves - Machine wash

Wash the glove on a low temperature setting (up to 30°C) and gentle cycle of a domestic washing machine. Use a mild detergent that is recommended for washing woollens. Please do not use any fabric conditioner or strong washing materials as they may damage the leather. Ensure that the gloves are thoroughly rinsed. Spin gently, pull into shape and hang to dry in natural room temperature away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry or place on a radiator.

When nearly dry, put the gloves on your hands to restore their shape and softness. Remove from your hand and hang up to dry fully. When dry, place on your hand and buff the surface with a soft cloth.

Sport range/Lite Gloves

Wash the gloves on the low temperature (up to 30°C) gentle cycle of a domestic washing machine and dry as above

The Globaleather Story

At Globaleather, we pride ourselves on over two decades of experience in designing the best wheelchair gloves available. Our gloves have always been designed in Britain by wheelchair users, using the highest quality materials. We feel it's important that our gloves are designed and tested by our customers and, as a family business, this remains an important part of our business ethos today.

Globaleather was founded in 1994, by Trevor Palmer shortly after his life changed dramatically following a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.

Not long after this diagnosis, Trevor became a part time wheelchair user and, like so many of our customers, started looking around for the best wheelchair gloves he could find. Trevor was surprised to see that people like him were using gardening gloves, weightlifting gloves and even washing-up gloves! Whilst offering a small amount of protection for a very limited amount of time, clearly none of these types of glove were up to the job (as so many of our customers have discovered for themselves!).

o Trevor set about designing bespoke gloves that could withstand the demands of every day wheelchair use and at the same time provide comfort and style.

Trevor started to make prototype gloves by hand. He then set about asking everyone he saw using a manual wheelchair if they were willing to assist him in testing his gloves! Driven by a desire to provide wheelchair users like himself with a glove that would really make a difference to their lives, he eventually recruited fourteen willing volunteers, purchased a couple of industrial sewing machines, converted part of his premises into a sample development area and Globaleather was born.

After eight months of testing and refining the Globaleather Original Wheelchair Glove (now known as the 'Classic') had evolved and Globaleather's range started to expand into sports gloves, winter gloves and blue badge wallets.

Today, Globaleather sells thousands of pairs of British-designed gloves to customers all over the world and we're proud of the reputation we've built among our loyal customers.

We hope you enjoy browsing our range and if you'd like to know more about our heritage or our gloves, please get in touch at customercare@globaleather.com

We'd love to hear from you.
