Raise Money

Globaleather is a very proud sponsor of Paul Smith and what he achieves. Paul became severely disabled in 1991 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Paul was a Leading Seaman Specialist in the Royal Navy, so was incredibly fit and led an active, full and privileged life, as well as competing in the Royal Naval Field Gun Crew.

Paul is mainly confined to a wheelchair, and still suffers significant pain as a result of permanent brain damage and numerous physical disabilities. He finds it helps him greatly to concentrate a large proportion of his time in helping others he feels are less fortunate than himself. Over the past 7 years, Paul has helped raise in excess of £2,200,000 for a number of charities including; the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Kiya survivors in Peru, Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity, and Centrepoint Youth Homelessness. Most recently he raised £35,000 for Save the Children UK.

In April 2015, Paul’s next challenge saw him push himself in his wheelchair, up the Rock of Gibraltar. The official time Paul completed the challenge in was 2 hours 14 minutes and 1 second, with the official distance covered was 3.83, due to the zig zag pattern he used to climb the steeper parts of the rock. The challenge benefited Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity and Save the Children (Gibraltar) by raising an amazing £21,459.69.
